First pick in the women’s event goes to Birmingham Phoenix, who have retained all-rounders Ellyse Perry of Australia and New Zealand’s Sophie Devine.

The teams have 75 spots to fill after retaining 137 players.

The selection process will be held on Wednesday, 20 March, with The Hundred taking place in July and August.

England stars Amy Jones, Dawid Malan and Jason Roy will be among those available to be picked with the full list of players available being confirmed on Monday, 4 March.

In November, former England all-rounder Flintoff was appointed by the Northern Superchargers, who finished bottom last season.

He has been recovering from injuries sustained in an accident while filming BBC TV show Top Gear in December 2022.

Flintoff joined England’s coaching set-up during the white-ball series against New Zealand in September.

He represented Lancashire in county cricket but the Superchargers role will see him based at Yorkshire’s home ground Headingley in Leeds.
